America's favorite little robbers. One of the most common disease-carrying nuisance wildlife pests in Colorado. The raccoon is noted for its intelligence, resourcefulness, and adaptability. It is usually nocturnal and omnivorous. Can cause devastation to structures when left to their own devices.
Four known species have been known to live in Colorado and the most likely two you will encounter are: the striped skunk, and western spotted skunk. These omnivores are typically the size of house cats. Their diet consists of plants, insects, larvae, worms, fruit, eggs, reptiles, small mammals and fish.
The most cunning of the weasel family. These animals are intelligent, solitary, transient hunters. Pine martens are omnivorous -They mainly eat rodents, birds, fruit and insects. They are mostly active at night and during dusk. Can cause a mess for people when they accidentally get trapped inside of structures.
Generally, a scary sight for homeowners to stumble upon. 30+ species of snakes are prevalent across Colorado. 4 of these species are venomous and rarely seen at higher, mountainous elevations. The main three species people will encounter are: the midget faded rattlesnake, bull snake, and western terrestrial garter snake.
